Castle Road

Because of its historic developments, the area in South-East Austria is one of the regions with the highest number of fortresses and castles in the world. Built to protect the country and traffic roads, the fortresses in Southern Styria and the south of Burgenland were fortified until the 17th century.
18 of these fortresses and castles, such as Riegersburg, Schloss Herberstein with its zoo, Schloss Kapfenstein, Schloss Stubenberg, and many more, can be visited along the Castle Road, Schlösserstraße where you can indulge in historical times.
