Based on thousands of votes submitted by Spafinder.com visitors and readers of Luxury Spa Finder Magazine, the awards represent the most complete consumer assessment of the global spa market.
In all, ballots were cast for 1,500+ different spa properties worldwide (a number made all the more impressive given that voters were asked to only cast ballots for stay spas they've personally visited within the past three years).
Rogner-Bad Blumau Hotel & Spa, Bad Blumau convinced readers with its whimsical architecture designed by famed Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The concept was to create an environment where buildings and nature harmonize, resulting in a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere. Grass grows on the roof, walls and floors are curved, a mix of colors decorates the facade, and the 312 guest rooms are organized in a labyrinth-like pattern. But the hotel, which opened in 1997, draws the most attention for its hot springs, which are enjoyed by guests of all ages. Also on site is a state-of-the-art fitness center, nine restaurants and lounges, and Wunderschön, the spa's beauty center. After a day at the soothing springs, many guests head here for a final bit of relaxation, offered in the form of massage, aromatherapy, and other spa staples.
